Researching historical female artistic space

New work: Ellae x RCMC

Since 2018, there has been an exploration between RCMC and Rajae El Mouhandiz to work on special projects as RCMC Extended Family in Rotterdam.

RCMC, meanwhile, enthusiastically followed the Modest Fashion exhibition. Ellae has since been in talks with RCMC, the institute for research of material culture, to set up a co-creation project in Rotterdam, looking at the World Museum's collection from a female perspective.

In particular, we look at crafts that were created by women from different cultures and generations and different socioeconomic positions. For the Modest Fashion exhibition, Rajae's starting point was the space women were allowed to take in the arts, 100 years after female suffrage through art and fashion. Now we are going to look back at the historical space women were allowed to take, artistically. We will especially idenitify and question blind spots.
